Research

For my project, I have been given multiple different themes for our project, some of these choices consisted of: Sci-Fi, Punk (incudes Cyberpunk, steampunk etc.), Atomic Age, Urbanisation and Rome etc. I have chosen to go with Atomic Age because I like the 1950s Atomic Age style.

My biggest inspirations for my project are the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as Indiana Jones accidently finds himself in a nuclear bomb test site built to look like an American Suburb in the middle of the Nevada desert at the start of the film (image 1) and the map Nuketown from the original Call of Duty Black Ops game (image 2).

I'm also looking at other 1950s styles like living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms etc.

My house layout is going to be based off of a Levitt house (the first 3 images are example of the layout and floor plans of a 1950s Levitt house). I quite like the layout of the middle image (image 2) so I think that may be the layout I use when I come to make the house. When I say layout, I only mean the walls; the actual furniture and layout of the rooms, I will make up myself. The outside of the houses, i will try to make them look a little bit more like the houses seen in the posters and adverts as seen in my inspiration board above.
