Modelling the Curtains

To model curtains, the first thing to do is create a box and a plane and lay it out as seen in image 1. Make sure to add loads of segments to the plane so that the plane can fold up on its self the way a curtain would (at least 40 on both the width and the length). Open up the MassFX toolbar and apply the cloth modifier to both the box (set the cloth behaviour to Kinematic) and to the plane (set the cloth behaviour to Dynamic and load the cotton pre-set). Next, go to the cloth modifier on the plane and click the drop down arrow and select vertex and highlight all the vertex across the top (as seen in image 2) and make a group then select node and select the box. After that, select the box and move the pivot point to one of the ends (in the direction the curtain is going to be pulled) then select auto key and scale the box as seen in image 3. Once that is done, click the play button in the MassFX toolbar and the animation should play and it should pull the plane together (settings like the gravity and density may need to be changed to get the desired result). Once the desired result is achieved, the FFD 4 X 4 X 4 can be used to mould the shape of the curtain to maybe make it look like it's been dragged across the floor as seen in image 4. It can also be used the change the shape of the curtain if it is copied to create the realistic randomness.
