Modelling the Base of the Flymo

To make the base mould of the flymo, start off with a plane which is then extruded the edges out by holding shit and using the scale tool (while the edges were highlighted) and then drag them upwards (this time using the move tool) to create the lip around the end. After finishing with the lip, extruded the middle polygon upwards. From there, its just a matter of moving the vertices around and adding new edges to try and get the right shape.

The next thing was to create the circular part which clips the engine to the mould. This was achieved by creating a new cylinder and placing it where the engine will to go. Then add new edges and moved the vertices (using the snap tool) inline with the vertices of the cylinder an then highlighted all of the polygons in that circle then bevelled in upwards and inwards then inset it a bit then bevelled it outwards and back down.

After that, add the cylindrical clips on the side of the circular part which was achieved by adding an edge around the middle of the circular and creating new cylinders (8 sided) and placing them where they are going to be. At each polygon where the cylinders are going to go, connect the corners to the middle so you have 8 polygons then chamfer the middle vertex (as seen in image 3) then delete the middle polygons and attach the cylinder to the base and target weld then vertices to the cylinder as seen in image 4. Once that is done, add loops around the base of the cylinder an on the cylinders at the bottom to control the smoothness of the joint.
