Start of with a box a then simply copy it and place it 90 degrees at one of the edges of the original box as seen in the first image. then create another box behind it and use the extrude tool to create the arm rest shape as seen in the second image. After that, create another box this time it will be the mattress of the sofa as seen in the second image and use the relax tool then the cloth modifier to puff it out a little bit then take it into Mudbox and sculpt the creases into it to make it look like it has been used like with the other mattresses made in this scene. The next step is to create the pillow which is done exactly the same way as they were done with the firepit.
After finishing the sofa, I decided to create a mini bookshelf in the arm rest. To do this, simply highlight all the polygons on the outside of the arm rest and extrude it outwards then inset those faces and extrude them inwards to create the depth where the shelves will go. From there, add multiple lines (I used 2 going across which created the top shelf and 4 going vertically which create the parts that would separate each section as seen in image 1 below) then bridge them together to create the shelves.
Then next thing I did was model a book and to do this, simply start off will a box with the width, height and length the book will be. Once that is done, go the the front view and got the end where the spine will be and create 2 circles and an eclipse and place then where the cover will bend for the spine (with the eclipse being placed where the spine will be). After that, go to the create tab and click on line then change the creation method from edge to smooth and use the circles and eclipse as guide lines to create the spine of the book as seen in image 2 and then drag the starting vertex to the end of the box to create the width of the book (if need be use the fillet tool to round off the corners a little more). Once that is done, simply mirror the line as a copy in the Z axis to mirror it underneath the original line and then attach the two line and weld the meeting vertex at the spine as seen in image 3 and use the extrude modifier to create the book case as seen in image 4 (don't extrude too much so the lines at the corners creating the spine doesn't cross). The last thing to do is to create the pages which is done by highlighting the inner edge of the book and copying it as a part of the same and connect the two edge lines together and use the Bezier corner to curve it inwards to create the pages (as seen in image 5) then simply extrude it.
