Making the Box on the Right of the Engine

First start off with a box and bevel it out wards. Add 2 loops going around and 1 going across and place then where the hinge will go the extrude that polygon. Then add a turbosmooth and some support edges to achieve the result as seen in image 1.

To create the lid, start off with a box and cut it in half and apply symmetry (so that both the hinges will be exactly the same). Bevel the front inwards a little bit and add the loops to place the hinge (as seen in image 2) and then create the hinge. Chamfer the corners of the box as seen in image 3 then add turbosmooth and support edges.
