Creating the Fuel Cap

As part of the Flymo's engine, I had to model the fuel cap on the side of the engine. To do this, simply start off with a cylinder and use the extrude, inset and bevel tools to create the shape as seen in the first image. Once the base is made the handle is next and to make the handle, start off with a box and add a few edges and extrude the end polygons and scale in the middle edge to get the shape as seen in image 3. Delete the bottom polygons of the handle (the ones which attach to the lid) then attach the handle to the rest of the fuel cap and connect the vertices of the handle to the edges of the lid
To make the part which holds the fuel cap, create a new cylinder and place it around the fuel cap and delete the top polygons then create the shape of it by moving the vertices. Then to create the indented part, simply highlight all the outer polygons and inset then highlight the outer polygons around the part that has just been created and extrude it a little bit.
